How to be coached well
The most common misconception about coaching is that the value arrives in the session. In practice, the session is where thinking is sharpened; the value arrives in the fortnight afterwards, in the choices you make slightly differently.
Bring the real thing, not the presentable version. An hour spent on the topic you're comfortable discussing is an hour not spent on the one keeping you awake.
Let a question sit. When something lands uncomfortably, the instinct is to answer quickly and move on. The pause before the second answer is usually where the useful material is.
Finally, agree on one concrete action, and make it small enough that you'd be embarrassed not to do it. Momentum is built from evidence, and evidence needs completed actions.
